So you’ve discovered Cascadia Magazine! Congratulations. It’s a work in progress: we now have a draft website template up, articles are being assigned, and stories, essays, poems, and fiction are starting to come in. (And please visit the submissions page if you’ve got something you’d like to share). We’re on track to have our first issue– which will be a mix of journalism, environmental reporting, arts profiles, essays, fiction and poetry — online in December 2017. After that we’ll continue to publish quality writing and photography about life in the Pacific Northwest, and then kicking off our fund-raising drive in early 2018.
One thing that’s up and running now is Cascadia Daily. Every weekday, we hand-pick an assortment of stories relevant to life in the Cascadia region (encompassing Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, and parts of Idaho and Northern California). When you sign up for this free e-mail newsletter, you’ll receive a curated selection of links to news stories, essays, fiction, poetry, and art — spanning the diversity of cultures and people in Cascadia. We hope Cascadia Daily will make you think deeper about issues and help you better understand the region you live in.
Cascadia Daily is dedicated to crossing borders. Not only state and national boundaries, but also bridging the gap between rural and urban, between the people who live east of the mountains and west of them. We’re committed to covering the complete bioregion and the issues that affect us. And we’ll hunt down stories that capture the diversity of ethnicities, religions, beliefs, and cultures you find throughout the Northwest.
Please head over to our sign-up page, read through an archive of recent newsletters, and start receiving Cascadia Daily.
